Just between us...I don't actually live on a farm.
And to make matters worse, I have no qualifications as a horticulturist.
But I do love the garden. I love everything about it, even the parts you're not meant to enjoy - like weeding, and digging new garden beds.
I live in the suburbs of Sydney, in an average suburban house, with your average sized backyard. Over the last few years I have been turning delightful, overgrown weed displays into flowerbeds and veggie patches. I have been reading books on composting for fun, and have been subscribing to gardening magazines with advertisements for funeral insurance and incontinence products in them (I don't think I fit the target market). When my friends ask me "what's new" I mistakenly interpret this as a cue to start discussing my latest ideas on plant propagation.
So to save my friends and give myself an outlet for my enthusiasm, I decided to start writing about it.
My hope is that other people can enjoy my garden (or their own), and maybe I can even convert a few friends along the way...even if I have to wait until they reach retirement age.
